Ty Sanga Director

Sanga was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu and has always had a passion for storytelling. He is the director of PBS show, Family Ingredients, which was nominated for two Daytime Emmys and won an Emmy in 2014. His short film Stones, a mythical Hawaiian tale about love and isolation, garnered a number of awards and has screened at the Sundance Film Festival.

He directed the feature documentary Visions in the Dark: The Life of Pinky Thompson. It was nominated for Best Documentary at the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Sanga is a Sundance Lab Fellow and his feature film After Mele is currently in development.


Caleb lucero producer

Lucero is a Native Hawaiian independent film producer born and raised on the island of Oʻahu. His recent film projects include Visions in the Dark: The Life of Pinky Thompson, and The Haumana.

Lucero is also an active member of the International Cinematographers Guild. He has had the pleasure of working for ABC, CBS, 20th Century Fox, Showtime, Discovery Channel, and Universal Studios.

As an alumni of Kamehameha Schools, he is driven by a deep desire to perpetuate and accurately portray the Native Hawaiian culture through film, television, and new media.

Greg doi cinematographer

As the owner and founder of Greg Doi Productions, Greg has been working for feature film and commercial productions for more than 15 years, both within and outside Hawai‘i. Notable projects include Kong: Skull Island, Lost, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Godzilla. Most recently, Greg’s The Land was accepted into the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.

Kanoa-Wong was proud student of the kula kaiapuni Hawaiian immersion system and graduated from Ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Ānuenue. He earned his bachelor’s degree in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi and a master’s degree in education from UH Mānoa. Kanoa-Wong currently works as a Hawaiian cultural specialist at Kamehameha Schools where he helps revitalize the Native Hawaiian language and culture organization-wide for haumāna and KS staff statewide.

Oliver evangelista writer

When a baby cries at two o’clock in the morning, even dreams evaporate from existence. Evangelista defines himself as “Dad” and “Husband” first. His passion for film and writing, however, come close, as they kept him up many nights since childhood. He received an MFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University. He wrote the feature-length docudrama, Gina’s Journey: The Search for William Grimes (2017), which won the Roots Award at the Oakland International Film Festival and played at several documentary festivals. Evangelista also had the honor of writing the short film, Hae Hawaiʻi, which won the Audience Award at the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival and continues to tour film festivals. He is on a constant quest to connect with people anywhere and believes the medium of film provides the best opportunity to accomplish that goal.

The oldest of five brothers, Vince Kealaokalani Lucero grew up diving and surfing the oceans of West O‘ahu. A filmmaker since his high school days, Lucero produced his first documentary while still at Kamehameha Schools. After receiving a degree in film from Loyola Marymount University, Vince returned to Hawai‘i where he formed Co Creative Studios with fellow filmmaker Scott Lee Mason. Now in its 8th year, Co-Creative produces TV, commercial and film projects, creating content for such organizations as Kamehameha Schools, Showtime Networks, HDNet, and ONeill. As a Native Hawaiian filmmaker, Lucero is committed to developing works from a unique, and value driven perspective. His passion is telling the stories of this land and people through art; his mission, to produce works that positively influence the way people think about their impact on environment, their communities, and themselves.

Award winning Cinematographer, Shawn Hiatt grew up on the mainland US before moving to Hawaii in 1985 to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, earning a B.A. in Broadcast communications, with a concentration in Advertising.

In 1988, he interned with Hawaii's #1 production company QDD. After graduation in 1989 Shawn joined Pacific Focus Inc. and grew to be a staff Cinematographer. Since pursuing his freelance career in 1998, his client list continues to expand.

Recent clients and credits include; national spots for JEEP Tour of Duty, McDonalds, Steinlager, Regional work such as: Phillip Morris Asia, Swedish American Hospital in Illinois, First Hawaiian Bank, Bank of Hawaii, American Savings Bank, Central Pacific Bank, Island Insurance, Farmers Insurance, Hawaiian airlines, and Sempra (a California energy company serving all of Southern California)

Greene brought her passion for telling authentic stories of Hawai‘i to MVNP's Broadcast Department. As an award-winning independent filmmaker, she takes pride in her ability to organize and problem solve, and feels most at home when leading a team to bring abstract ideas to life. Born and raised on Maui’s north shore, her passion for storytelling has led her to produce several local productions, eagerly pushing the limits of what’s expected. From directing films which premiered at the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival, to producing shorts sponsored by local production companies, she can feel the world at her fingertips and the ‘āina between her toes. When she’s not managing schedules and budgets, you can hear her as a guest host on the local film podcast, “Cutting it Close.”

Krock has been costuming for theatre for 35 years. She spent time in New York working at Barbara Matera’s, a highly respected costume house. She studied at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York’s New School and UH Mānoa Department of Theatre and Dance. She was inspired by the British period dramas and found a niche in historical costuming. While living on Maui, she worked mainly in local theatre productions with an occasional location film opportunity. Since moving back to Honolulu, she has worked at almost all the theatre venues on Oʻahu. She has received awards both on Maui and in Oʻahu for costume excellence over the years.

Apilado worked in NYC on Madison Ave for many years as art director. His work on Jaguar Cars, Riunite Wine, Maybelline won many awards. Coming back home to Hawaii he worked on many hotel and restaurant ads. Apilado’s work on independent films include The Haumana, The Bridge, Hiromi in Love. He has worked in the Middle East, Paris, London and Italy, and absolutely loves Venice!

DeFeo began his career as sound engineer in the mid-1970's working for local television stations KHET and KGBM. He then transitioned to several Executive Management positions in the electronics industry, both on the mainland and Europe. Since returning to the islands, he has been involved in production sound on numerous features, commercials, documentaries, independent productions, as well as Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum P.I.

Christopher K. ahn co-composer

Ahn is an R&B, Hip Hop, and Alternative Pop Producer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Honolulu, HI, Ahn made his mark working at the world-renowned Island Sound Studios, formerly known as Avex. Teaming up with recording artist, Renzo, to write and produce the R&B / hip hop tracks such as “Wasting My Time” and “Shotcalla,” the duo organically amassed over a quarter-million streams on Soundcloud. Having moved to Los Angeles shortly after, Ahn connected with the Urban artist known as “THEY” and EDM artist “Graves,” producing on the Fireside EP and Far From Here EP respectively. Currently, Ahn is working with THEY on their sophomore, full-length album, slated to be released under Mind of a Genius and Warner Bros. Records on October 2019.

Kusterer is a musician, producer, tour manager, and composer based out of Long Beach, CA. He has performed with artists such as Eddie Money, Juanes, Mitch Malloy, and Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson) to name a few. He has also performed across the globe during a 10-year stint with the United States Air Force Band, 6 years of which was spent as a music director and tour manager. As a composer, Kusterer has worked on a number of commercial campaigns to include #LetHawaiiHappen and the Hele Gas Re-branding project. Currently, Kusterer works as a hired-gun guitarist, a music director for Twisted Gypsy (LA-based Fleetwood Mac tribute band), and a producer for several different artists.

Max Ebersbach SOUND DESIGNER

Ebersbach is currently Vice President and Executive Producer at Pacific Music Productions. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, his experience includes producing, engineering live and recorded radio programs to Japan, programming and producing onboard musical shows for Hawaiian and Aloha Airlines, audio engineering and award-winning sound design for local and national advertising, and sound design for short films including Hawaiʻi International Film Festival and ʻOhina Short Film Showcase selected films. His music engineering credits include Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning albums and a nomination in the engineering category. Ebersbach brings to the team his experience and close connections to the Hawaiian music industry as well and his unique musical taste.
